Discipline

The IRB introduced new, world-wide, draconian penalties for all sending-off offences in 2005-2006. This is an attempt to rid the game of violent play and abuse of officials. All offences will have a low, middle and high entry point of seriousness and the disciplinary panel will look at a raft of determining factors: was the offence committed by boot, fist / elbow; was the offence intentional or reckless; what was the effect on the victim (injured or removed from the game); what was the effect on the game (was the result affected); age and experience of player; any mitigating factors. The disciplinary panel can increase or reduce periods of suspension. A mid range kicking offence will carry a 9 month ban with only a maximum reduction of 50% in exceptional circumstances! The mid range for official abuse is 12 months’ suspension!!
Any player sent off in any match will be given a minimum playing ban by the designated Club Disciplinary Sub-committee of 30 days. He will also be obliged to attend a Kent County Disciplinary Hearing and to pay the levy imposed by Kent CRFU of £30, £50 or £70 VAT.
DON’T GET SENT OFF!
