The Popes retain the Richard Collin Rose Bowl

The twenty second annual golf day was held this year, for the seventeenth time in France, at the Blue Green course at Dunquerque.
Those attending the event travelled by car and Eurotunnel or ferry to the golf course returning post-match to the hotel in Wierre-Effroy, the Ferme du Vert, for dinner and an overnight stay. As always there are some who do not enjoy early morning alarm calls on the day of the match and they travelled over a day early to enjoy a two-night stay at the Napoleonic-era farmhouse hotel.
The match trophy was retained by the Popes' team following a drawn match (1-1) against the President's team. This was the first occasion a match has been drawn and from this year there will be three teams competing for each side so that drawn matches are confined to history.
The individual trophy, the Bob Connell Claret Jug, was won by Ian Pressney, playing for the President's team, with 39 points.
Our thanks go to Rob Brophy, ably assisted by outgoing organiser Ian White, for their trip administration.
