The 1st XV are back on the road again, this time to the top of the table league leaders Pulborough. Pulborough are unbeaten this season with 6 wins out of 6 and another win in the cup against fellow league side Sheppey.
This will be the toughest test for the 1st XV this season. Last seasons results are pretty even between both sides with a win a piece and neither side running away with the matches. This season, Pulborough's fortunes seem to be much more in their favour. Notable results, beating Gillingham Anchorians, ODs opponents in last weeks victory, 44-19 at home. They have also beaten Aylesford Bulls 21-39 away from home, another side the 1st XV were victorious against.
The ODs are now currently on 1 point in the league and second from bottom and only 1 point behind Aylesford Bulls. Last week's results did not really go in the club's favour with Park House beating Sheppey but that doesn't take the shine off of the win against a strong mid-table side. The 1st XV will be aiming to chase down Park House's 11 points in the league as quickly as possible to lift them out of the three relegation spots. Any kind of win, or points for that matter, against Pulborough will help as most sides seem to slip by the wayside when playing them. With Park House facing off against Lewes and Aylesford Bulls up against the other league flyers Thanet Wanderers this is a perfect opportunity for the ODs to claw back some much needed points in the league, no matter how many that may be.
After the match it's all back to the clubhouse for the first big party of the year to celebrate Halloween. There are bound to be plenty of elaborate costumes and lots of celebrations to boot. We hope to see as many of you as possible.
Those thinking of making the trip to Pulborough, KO is 3pm and every bit of support is needed. Let's hope we can be the first thorn in Pulbourough's side.
