So with the first pre-season fixture out of the way the playing squad has split into two.
The A XV travel to Copers Cope Road to play RBS. This will not be a repeat of last season's friendly where the A XV comfortably defeated RBS II. This time they will be playing RBS 1st XV in preparation for the Old Boy's league campaign in the Kent Metropolitan Spitfire league that this season contains 1st XV sides for the first time.
RBS play their league rugby in Kent 2. The A XV will be up against a side that are used to playing with each other on a weekly basis, train together and will have moves that they practice as a unit. This is normally something the A XV don't have to worry about with most sides compromising of players gathered together at the last second.
The Old Boys will be looking to build on a good preavious season, with new faces joining the fray, and plenty of old heads to keep things going in the right direction and passing on their knowledge and experience. Jack Powter again takes the reigns with help from the returning Andy Booth, currently drafted into the 1st XV for the week. Both will be hoping for a flying start to the season.
If you are at a loose end, don't fancy the trip to Warlingham to watch the 1st XV, then a short trip to RBS may be the answer. Feel free to come along and cheer the boys on.
