DIRECTOR OF RUGBY
Shape the future of a historic club. Build something that lasts.
Old Dunstonians RFC is entering a defining chapter. After a dip in playing numbers, we're now competing in the Kent Met Leagues and building back - starting with a strong, committed 1st XV, then growing sustainably towards a competitive 2nd XV once again. This is a genuine grassroots opportunity: the chance to lead a rebuild from the front, not inherit someone else's finished project.
We're looking for someone - whether a seasoned coach who has led a rebuild before, or an ambitious up-and-comer ready for their first crack at shaping a club's rugby future - who sees this challenge for what it is: an exciting project with huge potential, not a problem to be managed.
What we need from you
• Inspire players and attract new talent - helping the squad grow in numbers, quality and cohesion
• Set clear standards, structures and a playing philosophy that fit who we are
• Build simple, effective processes for developing and retaining players
• Keep training, fitness and player welfare managed safely and professionally
• Run a fair, transparent selection process
• Give the Executive Committee simple, regular updates on selection, game plans and player progression
What you'll get
• The chance to lead the rebuild of Old Dunstonians' senior rugby and shape the club's future direction
• A genuinely rewarding coaching challenge — develop players, grow a squad, and leave a visible mark on and off the pitch
• Compensation negotiable, reflecting your experience and qualifications
The commitment
• Matchdays: Saturday afternoons, with some travel to away fixtures
• Training: Wednesdays, 7.30–9.00pm (building back to a full weekly schedule as the squad grows)
As with all our volunteer roles, you'll need to comply with club and RFU Safeguarding Policies, agree to our code of conduct, and be eligible for a DBS check.
IF YOU'RE READY TO HELP A HISTORIC CLUB RISE AGAIN - WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
