Unlucky to lose last week , OD’s set off at a cracking pace this week and really took the game to the visitors – putting them firmly on the back foot. This pressure resulted in the H&W Captain being yellow carded and from another rolling maul Captain Sam Perry crashed over for a try, well converted by Mike Ubee. OD’s ahead 7-0.
H&W applied some pressure at last but all they got for their troubles was a penalty 7-3 to OD’s. OD’s ran the ball back at H&W and from good lineout ball, and a driving maul, winger Jamal Gobir scored a converted try for the OD’s 14-3. H&W came back but again all they got was a penalty goal. HT 14-6 to OD’s who deserved to be further ahead had they taken all their chances. Ferocious tackling by Fran Pennacchia in particular at 13 but good lively performance by all, playing up the hill.
OD’s started the second half applying huge pressure again, duly rewarded by yet another converted try by Captain Sam 21-6 to OD’s who were now deservedly grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. OD’s were determined to keep control and a well deserved bonus point 4th try by Fran Panecchia , converted by fly half Mike Ubee who kicked well all match , pinning H&W in their half down the hill. 28-6 to OD’s – the game was won but some sloppy tackling gave H&W a consolation try. FT 28-13.
Man of the match – Austin Raleigh. OD’s moved up to 8th in the table and according to the H&W coach – should be much higher ! Well done boys – keep it going !
